  • The CEO of Twitter, Dick Costolo is stepping down, which some speculate is in response to criticism from stockholders.

During his 4 years as Twitter CEO:

    1. Revenue rose from US$4 million in the fourth quarter of 2009 to US$1.54 billion in 2014
    2. Twitter Users rose from 25 million in 2009 to over 1 billion in 2014 (NYTimes)

    Dick Costolo

And while Dick Costolo's business card will no longer say "CEO of Twitter," his Identity will still be linked to the Chief Executive Officer position through DickCostolo.CEO. According to Whois Records, Dick purchased his .CEO Registry membership on March 17, 2014. And so the question becomes, "Is Mr. Costolo's identity defined by who signs his paycheck, or by his level of experience?"

Here at the CEO Registry, he will remain a CEO, by way of DickCostolo.CEO.

Stepping back up to the plate is Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, who is also a member of the .CEO Registry with JackDorsey.CEO. Interestingly enough, Dorsey.CEO was also registered this morning by Twitter. Jack is taking over as interim CEO and also continuing his involvement as CEO of Square.

Also remaining in place is Twitter.CEO, which is just waiting to be filled by the next member to come. Predictions for the newcomer are widely speculated, but no doubt, whoever it is will join their predecessors in the .CEO Registry and secure their identity as one of the world's foremost CEOs.

Well done DickCostolo.CEO - We wish you the best.
